( Am Ch. Blossom Hill Barely Bronze x Am Ch. Blossom Hill Dream Keeper )
Until you have seen a “stallion of a dog” it’s really hard to picture what one would look like. When you have seen Edge, you have truly seen a “stallion of a dog”. At 8 months of age, Edge stood 25 inches at the shoulder, had bone and substance that you usually only see on mature dogs. You would have thought he was much older until you saw him in the ring! Then the puppy came out in him and he made everyone laugh. He did manage to win Best of Breed his very first time in the ring though!
Edge also placed in his senior puppy class at CCA in Boise, ID even with his partial blue eye! He finished his championship easily in Canada and won the Stud Dog class at the Canadian National in 2007.
When Mary and Paul Wells of Blossom Hill Collies in California decided to breed Edge’s mom April to Hal, I held my breath, hoping for a smooth male that could come to Canada. There was only one male in the litter and he was a sable merle. Bonus for me as Paul and Mary already had a sable merle in Hal and surely (I was hoping) they wouldn’t want to keep another one. Then, when their eyes opened and it was discovered Edge had a partial blue eye on his show side, I knew he was mine!! You can’t really show sable merles with blue eyes in the States but you can in Canada!! I started to make plans to bring Edge home!!
I went to California to get Edge and spend a few days with Mary, Paul and the beautiful Blossom Hill collies. I flew home from California on August 12, 2005 when Edge was 9 weeks old and which is my birthday as well. Right from the get-go, Edge made himself the boss. He pounced on the ragdoll cat the instant he came in the house and then ran upstairs to check things out. He hasn’t quit since! He is the official greeter when company comes and insists on being the first one pet. If you don’t he will lean on you until you do!
Ch. Blossom Hill Cutting Edge, HIC
Edge has a huge full white collar which extends well past his shoulders. He has a head profile to die for, absolutely no flare and no depth, full dentition, perfect scissors bite, and an expression breeders dream of. He is very strong in rear, with great drive. He has an adequate shoulder layback, with his head set well ahead of his front. If I could change anything, it would be to give him a bit more reach in front, combined with a little more shoulder layback. He is a pure-for-sable sable merle so if you are wanting to add some brown to your kennel, he will certainly do it!
I am also proud to say that Edge passed his Herding Instinct test when tested on sheep. What fun he had when he realized he could work the sheep without getting heck for chasing them!
I cannot thank Paul and Mary enough for letting me bring Edge to Canada. He is the first one they have let go so far away and to date, Tamaron Collies is the only kennel in Canada they have let their dogs go to. We are honored!!!
Edge’s claim to fame so far is his incredible son, Am/Can BIS Ch. Tamaron The Real Deal “Kennedy”. Edge has 6 champion offspring out of 2 litters, 3 rough and 3 smooth.
Inquiries welcome.
