(MNBOV, MBISS, BIS Can/Am Ch. Tamaron The Real Deal x Ch. Blossom Hill Tamaron’s Promise)
When I was trying to think of good names for the August 14, 2009 litter that Howie was in, and wanting to use “Deal” because of Kennedy’s reg. name, my friend Kelly (a huge part of Team Tamaron) called me from work and said “how about Deal or No Deal and call him Howie?”. I loved it and the sable merle smooth boy became Howie! Howie was put in a co-ownership with Kelly and became her Xmas present that year. He certainly does keep her and her other 2 Tamaron Collies on their toes. She now believes me when I said that smooths are more mischievous and devilish than the roughs!
Howie was so much like his dad in looks right from birth and so much like his mom in attitude. When Kennedy was a baby, I was afraid every day that he would fall apart in a growth spurt and not come back to the gorgeous puppy he was. He never did fall apart and now I was feeling the same way about Howie. He had the same melting expression, perfect eye, great ear set, dead level head planes, no depth, full underjaw, full dentition, scissors bite, long neck, great body as his dad…and frankly, it scared me because no puppy should look that perfect! I was afraid he would “go off” and not come back. I needn’t have worried! Howie was gorgeous as a puppy and has remained gorgeous as an adult. He has a lovely length of neck and a head and neck set well ahead of the shoulders, as it should be. Howie’s perfectly balanced front and rear give him exceptional reach and drive and enables him to track completely straight when viewed from front or rear. He has a dead level topline that he holds on the move as well as standing still. He is as goofy and playful as his mom Jasmine, which I wouldn’t trade for anything! He is a sable merle with brown eyes.
Ch. Tamaron’s Deal or No Deal
Howie’s first show was in March of 2010, the American National in California and the Specialties that preceded it. Quite the way to debut a 7 month old puppy! Howie’s very first time in the ring, ever, saw him win the Puppy Sweeps at the California Collie Clan Specialty under judge Marion Darrow. Later in the day, he was awarded Reserve Winners dog under breeder judge Lori Montero. What a great debut! Howie was also part of the team that helped his dad Kennedy win 3rd place in the very competitive Stud Dog class.
Coming back home Howie hit the all-breed ring and never looked back. He finished his championship quickly, even beating his BIS dad for the breed once, out of the junior puppy class! Howie won 3 BPIG and multiple breed wins over Specials from the classes. He finished as a senior puppy and was never beaten for the breed as a puppy Special.
Howie will be specialed lightly in 2011, hitting a few all-breed shows and any Specialties he can. He will also be going to the States to get his American Championship.
Howie will be bred to Izzy, Ch. Tamaron’s If I Can Dream, a smooth tri, in 2011. Inquire about using this exciting young dog.
